The third information meeting of Port of HaminaKotka Ltd in 2024 was arranged on 25 September in Mussalo in office centre Merituuli. As before, remote participation was also possible, and a total of about 50 people attended the event.
The event was opened by Commercial Director Eija Rossi, who gave an account of the current news of the port.
Timo Rosendahl, Director, Traffic Operations, briefly presented the situation with the fairway dues and its impacts, and reminded the audience of the appropriate use and cleanliness of quay and rented areas.
Technical Director Esa Paronen described the ongoing investments and other projects of Port of HaminaKotka Ltd. He also presented the operations of the water supply company Haminan Merivesilaitos Oy established by the Town of Hamina, where the port company serves as a consultant and is responsible for the administration, sales, marketing and construction management of the plant.
Foreman Topi Vehmaa described the service and maintenance efforts by Technical Services during the past year. He said that the snow clearing contractors who worked in the winter season 2023–2024 will continue at the port in the coming winter season and told about the new snow dumping site in Mussalo along Rompintie road.
Petra Cranston, Project Manager, Cruise Business, gave an overview of the situation with international cruise traffic and the outlook for the next few years.
Maria Kämäräinen, Manager, Security and Rescue, reminded the audience of both the co-operation between the different parties and the companies’ independent input in the prevention of nonconformities and in making preparations. She presented briefly the CER Directive and its effects on the Port of HaminaKotka, and encouraged companies to consider issues such as their own security-critical information, facilities and systems as well as access to them.
To close the event, Marketing Manager Petra Kuitunen presented important instructions to port operators available on the port’s website, and reminded the port operators to maintain their own contact information up to date and subscribe to the press releases published on the port company’s website to their email.
