Installation of Nord Stream 2 pipeline completed within the economic region of Finland

The installation of pipelines for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipe project finished in the economic region of Finland in August in week 34, when the installation work for the second pipeline was brought to a conclusion. A total of 1,800 kilometres of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline has been installed in the waters of Finland, Russia, Sweden and Germany. According to Minna Sundelin, Stakeholder Relations Manager of Nord Stream for Finland and Estonia, the goal is to finish the pipeline by the end of this year.

“The pipe laying work in the economic region of Finland ran smoothly. The effects of the construction work have been monitored in accordance with the monitoring programme for environmental impacts. The results to date confirm that the impacts detected have been small, local and of a short duration,” Minna Sundelin says.

Wasco Coatings Finland coated a total of more than 100,000 gas pipes at its factory at the Port of HaminaKotka at Mussalo in about one year. The coating of the gas pipes was completed in Kotka in April. Wasco’s concrete coating and logistics operations related to the project have given employment to more than 400 persons during the various stages of the project.
