Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen started as Deputy Manager, Traffic and Safety

Sea Captain Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen started as Deputy Manager, Traffic and Safety at Port of HaminaKotka Ltd on 20 January 2020. She took on this position from the position of the HSSE Manager at Oiltanking Finland Oy.

With a versatile work experience, Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen has worked as a mate on cargo ships, in maritime projects at a University of Applied Sciences and as a duty officer in the vessel traffic services of the Port of HaminaKotka. In her previous position as the HSSE Manager at Oiltanking Finland Oy, she was responsible for safety and environmental issues at the chemical terminal.

In her new duty as Deputy Manager, Traffic and Safety, Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen’s responsibilities include occupational and area safety, vessel safety, land transport and maritime safety, resource planning of traffic services as well as chemical safety at the port.

“It is great to return to the port, because I know the work environment from before and I feel welcome. The past three years at the international chemical terminal have provided me with many new perspectives and much experience, and I can use these in the development of the transport service,” says Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen.

Suvi-Tuuli Lappalainen and her family consisting of her partner and two sons live in Kotka. In her leisure time, she is involved in scouting, and she is also studying chemical engineering at LUT University. In the spring, her hobbies will also include orienteering with the goal to participate in the Jukola orienteering relay race next summer.
