The holder of the area grants the permits for other areas. Enterprises operating permanently in the rented areas of the port and enterprises that own land areas at the port grant hot work permits for temporary hot work carried out in their own areas or areas administered by them.

The port areas of the Port of HaminaKotka are secured by fences, gates and automatic access control. The port areas include land areas administrated by Port of HaminaKotka Ltd, owned or leased by various enterprises and terminals. All national and international regulations concerning work safety are to be followed within the port areas, along with the separate guidelines of the Port of HaminaKotka concerning moving and working within the port areas. The enterprises and terminals must make sure that their personnel, partners and subcontractors are aware of the regulations to be followed within the port areas.

Dangerous substances are substances which may cause injuries and damage to people, property or the environment due to their susceptibility to explosion, fire or radiation, or toxicity, corrosiveness or other characteristics. The handling of dangerous substances at the Port of HaminaKotka must comply with the Port regulations, General guidelines and General guidelines for liquid terminals and also with national acts and regulations as well as international conventions.

The Port of HaminaKotka is the biggest container port in Finland, with daily connections to all significant oceanic ports in Europe. Almost half of all container transport to and from Finland is carried through HaminaKotka. RoRo traffic at the Port of HaminaKotka is focused at Hietanen. Hietanen is a unique RoRo port. Regular and frequent maritime connections to the primary seaports in Europe, extensive warehousing facilities and field areas, direct access to the E18 motorway, well-functioning rail connections as well as versatile and efficient services by the port operator guarantee optimum service. Diversity and speed The products of the wood-processing industry are an essential component of Finnish exports. In fact, the products of the wood-processing industry represent typical RoRo cargos. The versatile cargo capacity and loading speed of RoRo vessels are also well suited to various project cargos.

The fairway to the Port of HaminaKotka has a depth of more than 15 metres. This enables service to all vessels that can access the Baltic Sea. One month ago, Wasco Coatings Finland started concrete weight coating of the pipes for the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline to be installed across the Baltic Sea. At its plant located at the Port of HaminaKotka, Wasco will coat more than 90,000 pipes needed in the project.
